Last Picture Day of 2011 - I Heart Macro

Today is the first day of the New Year - 2012 and the first of I Heart Macro for 2012.  I know this is a post from December 31st, 2011, but I loved these pictures mom and I took at the cemetery yesterday.  Mom does really good with the face shots and I suck :)  I did tweak the pictures a little bit in Picnik, just made them a little bit more clearer and sharp and added the Vignette to the pic also, I like the little bit of black around the outside of the photos.

Enjoy:

Mom took pick - played in Picnik
Yesterday mom and I decided to go to several different cemeteries to take pictures of statues.  Or I should say it was something I wanted to do and mom went along with me.

You need to go to the older cemeteries to find statues now because the new cemeteries don't have them, gravestones are buried in the ground (no statues anywhere).

It is a real shame, one of the cemeteries mom and I went to was in real disrepair.  It didn't look like anyone had been in there to clean up in a long time.

There were some really cool headstones that had moss and greenery all over them, you could barely read the inscriptions.

Mom did find a website that lists all the cemeteries in Indiana.  I think I want to do a road trip sometime to see what the cemeteries of Indiana and if they have any cool statues.

I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for mom and myself.  I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!!!

Friday Photos

Turkey Run, Indiana - 2009
The one good thing about starting this blog is going back and seeing all the different photos mom and I have taken over the last few years.

Turkey Run, Indiana - 2009
Mom and I went to Turkey Run on April 24, 2009 to take photographs.  I had my new Canon PowerShot camera and mom was using my old Sony Cybershot camera.  I was playing with a lot of the settings and of course I didn't write down what I was doing.

A lot of the phtos I took were with the black and white background with splashes of color.  Again, not sure which setting that was.  I only did some tweaking to these photos in Picnik.

So, that is what I have done today.  Played with some pictures in Picnik and I wrote a blog post Year in Review on the EB Bead and Metal Works blog which will post on the 31st of December.  Just a nice and relaxing day.  I think I am going to head home and change into my jammies and just veg on the comfy couch.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe New Year!

Photo Wednesday

Mom had her last shot of the year this morning.  She was a little more loopy than the last shot she had two weeks ago.  After the shot we stopped at the store and then I brought her home and put her to bed.  I then grab the camera and walked around outside.  The above statue is in mom's garden.  If you can't tell I played with the features in Picnik.

Mom has two copper bird baths in the backyard and one of them had water and ice in the dipper.  I also played with the exposure features in Picnik.  I am having way to much fun with Picnik right now!!!  Mom says I have an addictive kind of personality, who wouldn't have one after getting hooked on Picnik!

I was also pretty smart to write down the image number and what I did with image in Picnik so I can repeat it again.

I have some pictures I have done in Picnik that I have no idea what I did and I can't repeat what I did.  Not one of my brighter moments there.

That is it for now.  I have more photos I am playing with.  I also am trying to put all of our images in one location on the hard drive so we aren't searching in every folder trying to find the pictures I know I took at one point in time.  I guess you do get smarter in your old age :)

I really hope I can keep this up with the two blogs.  I will give this a year and see what happens.  Mom is worried I am taking too much on, but there is so much I want to do.  Well, we will wait and see what happens.  I guess I do have an addictive sort of personality, oh well.

Tones on Tuesday

Tones on Tuesday on Scattered Horizons Photoblog.

I just found this blog and I thought I would participate.

I used one or our pictures from West Lafayette, Bell Tower on Purdue.

I played with the tones on Picnik:

I used the following effects: 1960's and Vignette

New Blog and Fun with Photos

As you all may not know mom and I have another blog called EB Bead and Metal Works, LLC.  That blog is for our metals, enameling, lampworking, and Viking Knit.  I wanted a blog that just dealt with our photos.  So, here it is.

This coming new year I wanted to focus on photography more, but still do what mom and I love; sawing for mom and enameling for me.

I also wanted to learn more about how to use Photoshop and the different elements in that program and more with Picnik.

Here is an example of what I played with the other night.  The images are of fire hydrants from Ann Arbor and I just played with elements in Picnik.

So, as you see I had fun the other day playing with Picnik, but there is still so much more I need to learn.

I am also looking forward to trying out other challenges and seeing what other people take pictures of.
